Dr. Chase Twedell, a licensed Physical Therapist since 2013, was a two-sport NCAA athlete, competing in both football and baseball all 4 years of his college career. His experience and passion for athletics led his physical therapy practice into orthopedic and sports injury management. He has vast experience assessing, treating, and training all ages and ability levels from professional athletes to pediatric patients. He has a passion for teaching, serving as a licensed Clinical Instructor to Physical Therapy students from across the country in patient management and treatment. His family ties to Law Enforcement and Military along with his experience in treating and training First Responders gives him the unique view of the physical and mental and demands they experience on a daily basis. Dr. Chase has been delivering care for the First Responder community for the last 13 years, and has been providing experiential learning trainings for First Responders and Federal Agents since 2020.

Dr. Twedell’s educational and professional experiences include:

  • Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University of Southern California

  • Board Certification as a Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics, demonstrating advanced

    clinical knowledge, experience, and skills in orthopedics.

  • Administrative and Clinical Director of a private orthopedic practice

  • Credentialed as an ATPA Clinical Instructor

  • Clinical practice that specializes in sports and orthopedic injury management,

  • Served as a faculty member for a credentialed Sports Therapy Residency program

  • Developed didactic content for upper extremity anatomy, biomechanics, injury

    prevention and advanced patient management for Sports Therapy Residents

  • Developed evidence-based screening protocol to assess injured overhead athletes

    readiness to safely return to sport

  • Led special interest groups in discussion topics and development of criteria for treating

    overhead athletes, ACL injuries, and treatment of the tactical athlete

  • Implements screening protocols and procedures using current best practice technology

    and assessment tools for objectively assessing capacity

  • Site Manager for F1RST Research Team – Current Research Study: The physiological, psychological and cognitive effects of workplace stress, self-management habits and irregular shift hours on First Responders (2023).

  • Development and implementation of physical programming for F1RST to address injury prevention and recovery, the brain-fitness connection, and solution-focused approaches highlighting task specificity

He is dedicated to utilizing his experiences and knowledge to objectively assess First Responder health, provide solutions to address physical impacts, and develop personal and organizational resiliency to the rigorous demands of the First Responder.

He has a passion for teaching as he has served as an instructor to Physical Therapy students, from across the country, in patient management. His family ties to Law Enforcement and Military, as well as being married to a First Responder Psychologist, gives him an understanding of the physical and mental demands on First Responders.
