Cari epperson, LCSW.

Cari is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Oklahoma City area. Cari works with ages 16 +. In addition to working with first responders, she also has experience working with individuals in the medical field, and individuals and families dealing with life-limiting diagnoses. Cari serves as the Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with the Pediatric Palliative Care Team at OU Children’s Hospital in OKC. She has expertise in bereavement and traumatic grief. She is skilled in crisis intervention and medical debriefs. She believes that taking care of our medical personnel and first responders in our communities is crucial. Cari is committed to finding ways to enhance and strengthen her client’s quality of life. Cari has a unique experience and understanding when it comes to dealing with the mental strain, trauma, and stress that comes with working within the first responder and medical population.

Cari’s clinical and professional background includes:

  • B.S. in Special Education/Mild Moderate Disabilities from Northeastern State University Master in Social Work from, the University of Oklahoma
  • Graduate of Interdisciplinary Training Program in Child Abuse and Neglect, through OU College of Medicine
  • EMDR trained
  • Certified Compassionate Bereavement Care Provider through The Center for Loss and Trauma
  • Grief Recovery Method Specialist
    Resolve Through Sharing: bereavement coordinator and neonatal/perinatal specialist

 

Cari believes in empowering individuals, starting where the client is at, and utilizing their own strengths in the therapy process. Cari is passionate about her clients being able to have a safe place to process emotions in a non-judgmental atmosphere. Cari uses an integrative approach to counseling, working from a system perspective and utilizing a client-centered approach. Cari believes in a collaborative approach with her clients and believes in treating the whole person, incorporating mind, body, and spirit.
