Sports Academy at The Star offers over 50,000 square-feet and houses an indoor and outdoor turf field, NBA-regulation size basketball court, a diagnostics lab, world-class weight room, recovery suite, classroom space, and more. It is home to our bi-annual 3 Day Peer Support & Resiliency Trainings.

F1RST PHASE: DIAGNOSTICS

Individual and comprehensive assessments including cardiovascular fitness, aerobic endurance, performance diagnostics, goal setting, nutritional consult, and more. ​

Follow up includes reviewing results with the team to provide individualized recommendations for optimal health and performance. This service especially beneficial for pre-retirement, recently injured, and/or impaired performance secondary to health concerns.

3 Day Peer Support & Resiliency Training

Comprehensive training provided by Dr. T with a multidisciplinary team, a panel of first responders, and peer coordinators.

This highly interactive experience will assist with the development and maintenance of a Peer Support Program, provide evidence-based skill sets for new and existing team members, and promote physiological and psychological tactics for optimal performance.

TASC Track: Tactical Athlete Strength & Conditioning

Programming specifically designed to enhance strength and conditioning approaches to prepare first responders for the physical demands of high stress exposure. Human Performance Specialists can provide individualized and group guided services both on-site at your department and at the STAR.

Groups at the STAR offered every Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 9am, 12pm, and 6pm.

ON-Site Training

MOBILE WELLNESS TRAININGS

An all-encompassing experience that brings the experts, equipment, and technology to your department.

On-sight assessment and training that brings forth psychological, cognitive, physical and recovery principles that can be applied to each First Responder. Experience includes a post-training debrief with Chief, command staff, and/or wellness coordinators providing results and trends allowing for tailored solutions to the department’s specific needs.

Couple’s Workshop

A highly interactive 2 hour training promoting relationship resilience by increasing understanding of how both on and off duty experiences impact connection.

The education and skills provided focus on effective communication styles, nervous system regulation and the impact of shift work, boundary setting, conflict resolution, and more. Limited to 10 couples per training.

Annual Mental Wellness Checks

Confidential, individual check-in (30 minutes) with a F1RST therapist with utilization of standardized screening tools to assess overall functioning, set goals, identify concerns, and create solution focused action planning to promote optimal performance both on and off duty.  

The Wellness checks includes psychoeducation, resources and recommendation for follow up as necessary.
